The Minister of Energy and Water, *João Baptista Borges*, in the presence of the Minister of Construction, *Emanuel Tavares de Almeida* and the Governor of the Province of Huambo, *Lotti Nolika*, this morning, May 12, 2022, inaugurated, the newest Bailundo substation built from the ground up.
It is important to note that the construction of the substation started on April 11, 2022 and was completed on February 24, 2022 with the Mitrelli company as contractor, creating more than 2,500 direct and 2,500 indirect jobs.
However, it began to energize the population on March 28 of this year.
It should be noted that Bailundo Municipality covers a strip of 372,000 people and was previously a municipality still served by alternative systems, diesel power generation services and alternative sources, with the state injecting approximately 7,615 liters/day; 228,450 liters/month; 2,741,400 liters/year.
With this step, which represents a great win for the province and the municipality, the state saves in its safe about 370,089,000 Akz for the integration of the new cheaper (clean) power generation system, which allows a greater regularity without restrictions than there were before, when there was no fuel to generate electricity.
João Baptista Borges thinks, it should be noted that the city of Bailundo used to be powered by diesel generators with an available power of about 0.8 MW and with power supply limitations.
With the inauguration of this substation, 2,000 families already under contract in the metropolitan area of the city and another 3,000 families who will feed the centrality of Bailundo must be supplied, João Baptista Borges concluded.
